The film: "Subway Dreams" (2006, 56 minutes)
"Subway Dreams" explores the lives and motivations of six musicians from vastly different walks of life who audition for the MTA's Music Under New York program. Some gain admission while others do not. Yet the common sentiment running through this motley group remains one of optimism, a genuine love for their art, and the desire to add their unique voices to the cacophonous harmonies coursing through the subterranean veins of this vibrant and infinitely varied city.
The filmmaker: Anna Holtzman is a New York City-based journalist who writes about architecture and photography. This is her first film.
